Mahi B Chowdhury's nomination paper was cancelled
District Returning Officer and District Commissioner Abu Zafar Ripon announced the cancellation of nomination papers of three candidates including Mahi B Chowdhury in Munshiganj-1 constituency in the 12th National Parliament Election.
On Sunday (December 3) morning, in the meeting room of the Munshiganj District Administrator's office, in the first phase of nomination papers verification, the nomination papers of three out of 11 candidates of that constituency were cancelled.
Alternative candidate Mahi Badruddoza Chowdhury's candidature was canceled as he was a guarantor of a defaulted loan.
On the other hand, the candidature of independent candidate and organizing secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League Golam Sarwar Kabir and BNM candidate Farid Hossain were canceled as the supporter was not a local.
District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Abu Zafar Ripon said, we have taken reports from Bangladesh Bank about all the candidates. Mahi B Chowdhury's candidature was canceled as he was the guarantor of a defaulted loan of M/s Affinity Communication Limited. Apart from this, the nominations of eight other candidates were declared valid.
They are Awami League candidate Mohiuddin Ahmed, Trinamool BNP's Antara Huda, Jatiya Party's Sheikh Muhammad Sirajul Islam, Zaker Party's Ataur Rahman, Bangladesh Khilafat Movement's Ataullah Hafezzi, Bangladesh Supreme Party's Latif Sarkar, National People's Party's Doel Akhtar, Bangladesh Congress' Noor Jahan Begum Rita. .
Candidates whose nomination papers have been canceled have been advised to appeal by the Election Commission after correcting the errors. The name of Mahi B Chowdhury, president of Alternative Jubodhara, was proposed by Md. Asaduzzaman Bachchu said that Mahi B Chowdhury is not the guarantor of the defaulted loan. We will appeal this.
